Nancy Schoellkopf:  Pragmatic Poet & Intuitive Author

Writing Without a Net Since 1978

I have been blessed in this life to have two vocations, two passions that I have had the resources to pursue.

For over thirty years I had the privilege to work with students who have severe disabilities, first as an instructional assistant and then as a credentialed teacher.

But before that, I was a poet.

Now I have chosen to take my leave from teaching and focus on my writing.  I have finished my first novel, Welcome Stranger, and I have three more novels I’m currently revising.  I’m excited to have the time and energy to enjoy this work.

This is my web-home.  I want to have FUN here!  Please feel free to join me!  Whether you’re a fellow writer, a wannabe writer, or you hate writing; if you’re an avid reader or a so-so reader, please come in and join me, and leave a comment or two.

  1. Hi Nancy,
I was gifted your book by Grace Cody, my 96 year old friend. Once I started it I could hardly out it down. I loved it. I am sending info to my daughter-in-law’s mother who is in a book club. Encaustic I am sure they would love your book.

  2. Nancy,

I just finished Yellow Billed Magpie. You are a great story teller. I started reading it after the Wellspring event and couldn’t put it down until the final page.

I would love to talk about your information gathering process to have the insights included about the autistic life and teachers who teach them.

Thanks for the enjoyable journey reading your book!

  3. Nancy, I just completed Red-Tailed Hawk and was so impressed with the great character building you did in this book. I felt like I knew each on of them. Your use of little mannerisms and details of their actions within the plot were so revealing about them. I found myself seeing them in my mind as I followed their interaction in the story. Just as I felt with the Yellow-billed Magpie, I didn’t want the story to end. Thanks for the great writing.

    • Thank you so much, Dick! I’m so happy you enjoyed it. If you have the time, it would be so helpful if you went to Amazon and wrote a review saying just that! Hope to see you soon!
